Beginning Monday, September 29, the Alaska and Hawaiian MECs will each be conducting separate telephone polls of their respective pilot groups, administered by the University of New Hampshire (UNH).

The JNC met for four days this week. After a day of preparation, the JNC spent three days in direct negotiations with the Company, exchanging passes and discussing several outstanding sections. Progress continued as we reached agreement on some smaller issues; however, differences on some of the larger concepts became clearer.

The MECs believe a critically important part of any future TA ratification process is providing pilots with comprehensive and unbiased TA information. To support that goal, both MECs have authorized the SPSC Committees to create an ALA-HAL “Fact Team.”

The JNC began our week by meeting internally with ALPA National subject matter experts and HAL and ALA committee chairs on open issues for our negotiations. Scope and Recognition, Retirement and Insurance, and Supplemental Cargo Operations were primary points of focus.

The JNC convened Saturday and Sunday to prepare for bargaining, and just completed five full days of negotiations with the Company. The JNC was assisted by our Alaska and Hawaiian MEC Chairs, ALPA National Legal and Economic and Financial Analysis staff, multiple Alaska and Hawaiian subject matter experts, and our outside Scope counsel.
